Taimi Sanders and Elissa King are the creative team behind Melbourne-based interior design studio Sanders & King. The studio has carved a successful niche in residential design since 1995 with a signature style of relaxed, simple interiors with a timeless, but individual, aesthetic.
They are also the creative duo behind Australia’s much loved Sanders & King retail store in Armadale, Melbourne, which served as a window into the Sanders & King signature style. While the store closed its doors in 2010 after a successful 15 years, it is still remembered by design lovers as a destination for not only the S&K collection, but also a beautifully edited range of homewares and bedlinen.
Taimi and Elissa studied Interior Design at RMIT, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in ID. They started their careers at Woods Bagot Architects in Melbourne, Elissa in 1989 and Taimi in 1992. Projects included a range of corporate interior fit-outs and commercial and institutional projects locally, interstate and overseas. With that experience under their belts, they left and launched the Sanders & King interior design studio and retail store. Over the years, their philosophy has remained true to their original concept.
Sanders & King are dedicated to creating engaging interiors with a strong focus on honesty and integrity. They bring an acute sensitivity to materials and the refinement of detail to each of their projects. Collaboration is a key element to their design process; working closely with clients on all aspects of their projects, ensuring each interior reflects the personality of the homeowner and their lifestyle.
Since closing the Sanders & King retail store Taimi and Elissa have concentrated on the interior design side of their business and today are continuing to create relaxed, contemporary residential interiors. The Sanders & King signature style is very much alive.
